Vaxholms Hembygdsförening
A place where history lives on
At the turn of the 20th century, herring fishing was Vaxholm’s most important industry. At the Local History Museum in Norrhamnen, you can get a glimpse into what life was like for a fishing family.
The museum, which is open Friday through Sunday from late May through August, is a popular destination for both visitors and locals. Museum docents are on hand to assist you. Written guides are also available in several languages.
The local heritage center next to the museum also features two charming meeting rooms that can be booked from early fall through spring. Please contact us for reservations and pricing.
