Photo opportunities in Vaxholm

📍Fortress Tower
It is definitely worth climbing the 130 steps of the tower in Vaxholm’s fortress (Kastellet). The view of Vaxholm, the bay and islands is magnificent. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the globe-shaped Avicii Arena, the two TV and radio masts in Nacka and the Kaknästornet telecommunications tower.

📍Norrhamnen
The pretty marina with jetties, shoreline cottages and bathing rocks, is just a few minutes’ walk north of the town centre. Norrhamnen is also home to Vaxholm’s local heritage centre Hembygdsgården, with its summer café, museum and scenic vista over the bay and archipelago ferries.

📍Rådhustorget Square
In addition to the large chestnut tree and the bird cherry tree, the square also has an old-fashioned telephone box – ideal for a fun photo.

📍Bogesund Castle Park
The long avenue of old limes, expansive meadows and verdant castle park – the area surrounding Bogesund Castle offers plenty of photo opportunities. It is especially beautiful in autumn when the majestic trees create a sea of orange leaves.

📍Hamngatan Street
The most central street in town features several colourful facades. Perhaps the yellow building with its tall tower, at the crossroads of Hamngatan and Rådhusgatan, is one of the most attractive?

📍Stensundsviken Bay
In the virtually hidden rest area by the tranquil bay, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the archipelago. On hot summer days you can see the sun setting between the skerries.
