A nice day in Vaxholm

Part of:

Make a trip to Vaxholm - join an entertaining city walk and be served the city's specialty for lunch.

The guide will meet you in Söderhamnen in central Vaxholm in the morning. Together we walk through the picturesque archipelago town with nice little shops, cafes, restaurants, beaches and beautiful nature.

The city walk takes about one and a half hour and goes partly through the city's oldest quarter, where the small pastel-colored wooden houses are surrounded by jetties and ornate gardens. The guide tells about herring fishing and how King Gustav Vasa decided to place the defense of Stockholm's inlet here at Vaxholm. You will also hear about the summer guests who came to the city during the 19th century and about funny little anecdotes. The walk continues by the city hall and ends in Västehamnen.

At the cozy restaurant Hamnkrogen, you are served the city's own specialty for lunch - herring with mashed potatoes and accessories. In the afternoon there is time to stroll around on your own - take the opportunity to shop, visit art galleries or swim.
